GINA PANE
Notes
Published in Turin by Galleria LP 220 in 1972, this oblong octavo artist’s book is stapled at the upper margin and comprises ten leaves. It is the first edition, illustrated with eight original black-and-white photographs in 24 × 36 mm format, each mounted on the page and accompanied by facsimile captions. The present copy belongs to the small group of so-called chapel copies, issued outside the numbered edition of 100 and neither signed nor justified by the artist. This volume marks Gina Pane’s debut publication and takes the form of a personal journal of mourning composed after the death of her mother. An excellent example.
